| Make Me Whole

I wrote this poem my senior year in high school while I was in creative writing class. It wasn't for a grade or anything, I just love to write.
In a large crowd,
I always felt alone.
Then you came into my life.
You acknowledged me
when everyone else shunned me.
You befriended me
when no one else
wanted anything to do with me.
For that, I thank you.
At the same time,
I want to slap you.
For you've stolen my heart,
and no matter how hard I try,
I can't get it back.
My heart is still missing a few pieces,
and is severely cracked,
so be extra careful with it.
Maybe you will be the one to mend it?
All my heart needs
is for you to return my love,
then it will be whole again.
The last time a guy stole my heart,
it broke into tiny fragments,
and I was barely able to find them all.
So please, be very gentle.
And if you would, please,
do me one last favor?
Return my love
and make me whole once again.
Believe it or not, I submitted this poem into a contest and I got top prizes. Let me know what you think of it.
