It's when you first see your date you immediately find the sharpest object in the room and proceed to gouging your eyes out

On most blind dates, it would probably be better if you were both blind.

I used to think a blind date was a really scary moment in the making. Do you end up with Frankenstein, a stalker, dweeb of the century or someone who was pretending something else entirely?

A local radio talk show host held a segment on blind dating and then explained why he liked it so much and how he did it. I reconsidered after that. His theory is you meet at a local watering hole (not really noisy), agree to sit and have 1-2 beverages, then after you have given the person 15min (minimally), you both agree to leave, walk around the block in opposite directions. If you both end up back there, great, you'll go have a real date---dinner or something interesting to do. If you don't, well, it was nice to meet you, thank you for the opportunity. End of discussion. So you don't go broke, you don't get roped into something permanent or awful. His comment was most people he at least actually went out with at least once or a few times before they mutually might have decided they weren't really right, but either way, BOTH had a chance to leave with a little dignity and then not waste time.

I thought THAT sounded pretty darn good. Wish I could have ended one or two dates (that were blinding) that gracefully.
