| After Ernest Hemingway shot himself, real heroes were ignored, mocked
or belittled.
Arlin Spector’s Magic Bullet Theory was a joke to a murder,
and My Li was a murder within a joke.
Lyndon's Great Society spun lies around the icons
masking the farce created.
They killed Martin and Bobby, who symbolized a last chance
for the world and humanity.
The Watergate Plumbers were the clowns in the center ring
of Tricky D*ck’s I’m Not a Crook Circus.
"in the beginning was the word and the word became life",
we were told.
And we would surely die if we ate of the fruit,
we were told.
But we ate of it any way.
We smoked and searched and learned we had the knowledge of
good and evil.
We found, what is good is evil and what is evil in reality,
is good.
And the seeds of "Red October" were cultivated through our prose
and songs.
It seemed that we were going to get our kicks before the whole shit house
went up in flames.
So they split our heads, leaving us bleeding on the streets.
They hauled us off in their wagons for scoffing at their icons
and questioning their out dated values.
But we lived, killed and died for the real red white and blue
for what seemed to be without any clue.
yes......
We were an anomaly and
We truly left an impression.
But where did it go?"
All to be lost in the haze of these days?
WTF!!!!!!!

but i look to my brothers in AIM there are things
beginning to smoke there again. of all the things i was with
back then im still watching and supporting them.

| Very well stated, and also very thought provoking...especially for those who lived in those days...I remember all too well, we (the hippies) had strong convictions as far as what we believed in, the passion we had to try and make changes, but were fallen on deaf ears the voices that cried out so loudly. Why have we decided to destroy the earth, the people...for the simple reason of greed? There was a time when we had a choice.

| thank you
what u said about greed and killing the earth....they were doing both then
and thats what we were complaining about
most that were in the vanguard sold out
the rest of us held on until we saw nobody cared
now the hardliners of the right are too far in place
and it will take a struggle on a grander scale
now those that still hold on just have to wait
